Day 13 - Tackling the crisis in cancer care

Hi, I’m Jules and I was 37 when I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in November 2021.

Since then, the cancer has spread to my spine and pelvis. As my cancer is incurable, I rely on my three-monthly CT scans to stay informed about my prognosis. Despite the necessity of these scans, I constantly face cancellations and delays, which causes me huge amounts of anxiety and stress. Across the UK, too many people are facing dangerously long waits for cancer tests and treatments.

I rely on my scans – they are my lifeline. I shouldn’t be ringing up my team begging for my appointments. That’s why I’m standing with Macmillan Cancer Support to ask politicians to address the crisis in cancer care.

I am living life heightened, where I'm so sensitized to my appointments being cancelled, and so anxious that my phone is going to ring with another cancellation. It’s affecting everybody around me; my family, my friends, my son, they're all suffering. I have the disease in my body, but my husband and my son are on the same journey with me. Government decision-makers across the UK needs to listen to us.

Join us in demanding action now to make sure everyone with cancer gets the treatment they need, when they need it.

Will you sign the campaign banner to ask politicians: what are you waiting for?

By adding your name, you will amplify the voices of those who seek better cancer treatment across the UK. Without action from governments, the system will continue to fail health professionals and risk lives.

Please stand with Macmillan Cancer Support to support the NHS and people with cancer like me. Together, we’ll make sure that people living with cancer never have to wait for the care they deserve.
